Another restaurant to add to my list of places for eating out in Chichester!
I’d never heard of this pub/restaurant until last Wednesday when it was recommended highly to me by a friend. He warned that I’d be lucky to get in as it was very popular but luckily I managed to get a table the following night, presumably due to a cancellation. I’m so glad I went!
The meal started with Garlic (and something else that I forget) Risotto Balls… which were really fantastic. With the lovely texture of well cooked risotto but with very fresh and unexpected flavours it was a great start.
For my main I went for the Roast Lamb Rump with tagine spices, saffron potatos and mint salsa and couldn’t have been more impressed. The portion sizes were great and all the individual flavours worked really well with each other to make a classic lamb meal much more new and interesting. No pudding for me as I’m trying to be good at the moment but it was clear that everyone else in this tiny restaurant was very happy with their food and the great service from the staff. The most popular item seemed to be the sirloin steaks cooked over charcoal – nearly everyone I could see had this so I think that’ll be my choice next time I visit (mainly because this has the fantastic sounding “triple cooked dripping chips”… mmmm!
